Therapy for depression
Depression can take away your energy, motivation and hope. It isn't weakness, and it isn't something you have to push through alone. In therapy we find the way back to yourself and to what matters to you.
Signs you might benefit from support
- Sadness or emptiness that won't lift
- Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
- Fatigue, or changes in sleep or appetite
- Feeling worthless, guilty or isolated
my approach
How I can help
I combine cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to work through negative thinking, with interpersonal therapy, which focuses on your relationships and life changes. We also use a solution-focused approach to take small steps that help lift your mood.
What to expect
We go at your pace. First we understand your story and how you feel today; then we set realistic goals and celebrate each step forward.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between sadness and depression?
Sadness is a normal emotion that passes with time. Depression lasts for weeks, affects your energy, sleep and outlook, and makes daily life hard. If that sounds familiar, it is a good time to reach out.
What should I do if I have thoughts of hurting myself?
If you are in danger, call 911 now. You can also call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7 with Spanish-speaking counselors.
Do you work with older adults?
Yes. I work with children from age 6, teenagers, adults and older adults, in Spanish or English.
